About the role:

As the General Manager – Air & Ocean Freight Forwarding, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership and operational execution of the Air & Ocean division in Australia. This includes end-to-end ownership of P&L;, development and management of key trade lanes, and oversight of all customs compliance and brokerage services. You will lead cross-functional teams to deliver consistent growth, service excellence, and high customer satisfaction.

This is a senior leadership role suited to someone with deep industry knowledge, commercial acumen, and a track record of delivering results in complex freight forwarding environments.

Our office is based in Banksmeadow, Sydney.

Key Responsibilities:

- Full ownership of the Air & Ocean division P&L; for Australia, including revenue growth, cost management, and margin improvement.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to grow market share across both Air and Ocean products.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management to meet company objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize profitability, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Provide hands-on leadership and mentorship to operational, sales, customs, and trade lane management teams.
- Develop and manage key trade lanes in line with the direction of the Regional Ocean Freight Lead, ensuring competitive services and pricing strategies.
- Own the product development and management process for both Air and Ocean freight services, including FCL, LCL, consolidation, and express products.




- Collaborate with overseas offices and global partners to enhance trade lane performance, capacity, and service offerings.
- Conduct market analysis and competitor benchmarking to identify opportunities for growth and product enhancement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, co-loaders, and service partners to secure capacity and negotiate optimal rates.
- Oversee all customs brokerage and compliance activities to ensure adherence to Australian Border Force regulations and international trade laws.
- Ensure customs processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with customer requirements.
- Lead the development of value-added customs solutions for clients, including tariff consultancy, duty drawback services, and trade advisory.
- Mitigate risk through robust compliance frameworks, internal audits, and proactive engagement with regulatory authorities.
- Ensure customs teams are up to date on legislative changes, including Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), import/export controls, and other regulatory updates.
- Other duties may be assigned.

About You:

- 10+ years’ experience in international freight forwarding, with a focus on Air and Ocean freight services.
- FIATA accreditation in Freight Forwarding is required.
- Proven success in P&L; management with solid financial and commercial acumen.
- Extensive experience managing and developing trade lanes, including contract negotiations with carriers and service providers.
- Solid understanding of Australian and international customs regulations, with experience managing licensed customs teams.
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to inspire, lead, and develop diverse teams.
- Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage clients, carriers, and government bodies.
- Analytical and strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset.
- Familiarity with logistics management systems, freight rate platforms, and compliance software.
