Role Description This part-time Graduate Software Engineer role is a hybrid position based in Sydney, NSW, with a mix of in office work at the school and some work from home. The role involves assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions that support school operations, learning tools, and internal systems.
Day-to-day tasks include writing clean and efficient code, contributing to back-end web development projects, debugging and resolving technical issues, and participating in code reviews.
The Graduate Software
Engineer will collaborate with educators and technical staff to translate user needs into functional software features, document technical processes, and support ongoing improvements. The role also includes learning and applying best practices in software engineering while working under the guidance of more experienced team members.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science principles and Software Development practices.
- Proficiency in Programming and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts.
- Basic experience or coursework in Back-End Web Development, including server-side technologies.
- Ability to learn new tools and frameworks quickly and apply them to real-world projects.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and willingness to receive and act on feedback.
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and basic software testing methodologies is beneficial.
