About the role The Greek Language Teacher - Primary is responsible for delivering high-quality Greek language education to primary school students, fostering proficiency in Modern Greek and developing an appreciation of Hellenic culture, history, traditions and identity. The role supports students to achieve positive learning outcomes in speaking, listening, reading and writing, while inspiring curiosity, cultural awareness and global citizenship. Through engaging and differentiated teaching practices, the Greek Language Teacher creates an inclusive, student-centred learning environment that promotes academic achievement, wellbeing and a lifelong connection to language learning.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging and effective Greek language programs aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum and school priorities for primary school students.
- Teach Modern Greek to students across primary year levels using contemporary and evidence-based pedagogical practices.
- Develop students' skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing in Modern Greek.
- Differentiate curriculum, teaching strategies and learning experiences to meet the diverse needs, abilities and backgrounds of students.
- Incorporate educational technologies and innovative teaching approaches to enhance learning outcomes and student engagement.
- Create positive, inclusive and well-managed learning environments that support student participation, achievement and wellbeing.
- Assess, monitor and evaluate student achievement using a range of formative and summative assessment strategies.
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to students and families regarding progress and achievement.
- Promote understanding and appreciation of Greek language, culture, history and traditions through teaching and learning programs.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, families and community members.
About you
- Current Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) registration.
- Recognised Accredited Teaching Qualification at tertiary (Bachelor degree) level or equivalent.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- National Police Clearance.
- Evidence of right to work in Australia.
- High level proficiency in spoken and written Up-to-date Greek and English.
- Demonstrated experience teaching Greek language as a first or second language in a primary school setting.
- Experience preparing students for Greek language examinations.
- Knowledge of Greek history, culture, literature and traditions.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
