This established, privately owned organisation operates a significant portfolio within the property sector. Based in a gorgeous Brisbane City office, the business combines the scale and commercial exposure of a substantial property portfolio with the accessibility and agility of a family-owned organisation.
The culture is professional, team-oriented and highly supportive, with senior decision-makers accessible to employees and a genuine emphasis on work-life balance. Rather than regularly expecting extended hours, management actively promotes sustainable workloads and flexibility around personal commitments.
The Position:
Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a broad Group Management Accountant opportunity suited to an Accountant who is still comfortable with financial accounting while broadening out their exposure to budgeting, forecasts, analysis and business partnering.
Responsibilities include
- Prepare management reporting and provide meaningful commentary on financial and property performance
- Partner with the CFO, Property Managers and department leaders to support commercial decision-making
- Maintain and improve centre-level financial and operational reporting
- Support month-end and year-end processes, including accruals, reconciliations and general ledger adjustments
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and financial modelling
- Manage fortnightly payroll for mostly permanent employees
- Prepare and lodge relevant ATO activity statements, including GST, PAYG and FBT instalments
Your Profile: The organisation is particularly interested in attitude and cultural alignment. You will be someone who takes initiative, contributes ideas, works collaboratively and is comfortable stepping outside a narrowly defined position description when the team needs support.
You will ideally enjoy working broadly across a business and want greater exposure to management reporting, commercial analysis and business partnering.
You will bring
- CA or CPA qualification, or a relevant accounting background with appropriate experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills as you will be interfacing with managers outside of finance who are not Accountants
- A proactive mindset and genuine interest in improving processes and reporting
- Strong Excel, Microsoft Office and accounting systems capability
- The willingness to work across both higher-level commercial activities and hands-on finance responsibilities
- Retail property, shopping centre or real estate experience would be advantageous but is not essential
- Willingness to undertake payroll. This is a small component of the role.
