The Venue

Amano Bakery, part of Amano in Auckland's Britomart in the heart of the CBD, is a bakery that uses authentic, artisanal baking techniques from Europe and showcases them using NZ grains. Each loaf is handcrafted, made fresh every day. Hence, Amano - Inspired by the Italian phrase "by hand".

Our emphasis is on sustainable, seasonal, locally-sourced food. Sourdoughs, ciabattas and miche loaves sit alongside pastries, tarts, slices and large seasonal cakes. And lunch at Amano Bakery includes traditional Italian pizza.

Seasonal ingredients, long fermented by the slice, hot out of the oven.

The Opportunity

We have a unique opportunity for an accomplished Head Baker or Pastry Chef to join our busy artisanal bakery!

Ideally as a Head Baker, you will have at least 2 years experience in a comparable role, be competent in hand molding and traditional techniques and have an understanding of French and Italian bread products.



You will also have the flexibility to work weekends and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

In this role you will be responsible for:

- Day to day operations of the bakery at all times
- The quality execution of all bakery offerings at all times
- Effective people practices including, but not limited to; recruitment, onboarding, development, and performance management
- Development (in consultation with the executive chef and production manager), implementation and compliance of all relevant processes, procedures and workflows
