Our client, a leading government department, is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join their ICT Digital Solutions team. This role will play a key part in a large-scale digital transformation, ensuring the scalability, security, and efficiency of data solutions that support critical Vocational Education and Training (VET) IT systems.

About the Role

n

As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing data pipelines, architectures, and analytics solutions within a hybrid cloud environment. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to both operational data management and transformation initiatives.

n

You will play a pivotal role in:

n

n
- Developing and managing scalable data solutions using Microsoft Fabric and Azure technologies
n
- Building and optimizing data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage within Fabric Lakehouses / Delta Lakes
n
- Ensuring data integrity, security, and governance compliance
n
- Supporting advanced analytics through data preparation for machine learning models
n




- Collaborating with key stakeholders to align data solutions with business reporting and analytics objectives
n

n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure data pipelines
n
- Optimize SQL queries for performance tuning and database management
n
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance issues
n
- Ensure a smooth transition of data solutions from project implementation to BAU operations
n
- Work closely with stakeholders to identify and implement data management improvements
n
- Mentor and support team members on data engineering tools and best practices
n

n

What We're Looking For

n

n
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering within Azure environments
n
- Strong expertise in Azure Synapse, data lakes, SQL-based tools (SSIS, SSRS), and PySpark
n
- Experience in data pipeline development, ETL processes, and cloud-based data management
n
- Advanced SQL skills with a focus on query optimization and database integration
n
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance best practices
n
- Exposure to machine learning and statistical models for advanced analytics
n
- Familiarity with Data Modeling (conceptual, logical, and physical)
n

n

Nice to Have

n

n
- Experience with Power BI, Dynamics 365, and Dataverse




n
- Understanding of DevOps/CI-CD for data pipelines
n
