Microbiology/Inorganic Laboratory Technician

The role
ALS Environmental in Newcastle require full-time Micro Laboratory Technician to join our Microbiology team. The successful applicants will receive on-the-job training in the technical components and procedures of the role, and a wide variety of laboratory processes associated with working in a up-to-date microbiological laboratory.

These are fulltime permanent position. Hours are from Sunday through to Thursday, with a long-term goal of working on a rotating roster.

Shifts will be Sunday 9am-1pm (negotiable), followed by Monday through to Thursday, 10:30am to 7.39pm OR Monday to Friday from 2pm and finishing at 10:15pm.

Responsibilities include:

- Preparation and analysis of water, wastewater and receiving waters
- Preparation and analysis of microbiological samples
- Preparation and analysis of inorganic samples
- Organising designated tasks for efficiency
- Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type and sample behaviour

About you:





- Tertiary qualifications or Certificate in Laboratory techniques
- Experience with and understanding of NATA requirements desirable
- Diligent in dealing with data and details and intermediate knowledge of MS applications
- Customer focussed and a collaborative team player
- Flexibility to meet our changing business needs
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational skills to manage competing and changing priorities
