Marmelois a restaurant and bar inspired by the coastal cuisine of Portugal and Spain with a focus on fresh and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant celebrates a unique culinary style with a focus on Iberian coastal dining embracing the seafaring and fishing traditions of Port Melbourne. Wood and charcoal cooking methods impart incredible flavours bringing authenticity to the cooking process.

Job Description

n

As the first and last point of contact for our guests, the Host plays a pivotal role in shaping the dining experience. You'll be responsible for creating a warm, professional, and memorable welcome, ensuring guests are seated comfortably, and managing the flow of service through effective reservations and seating coordination.

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Warmly welcome and farewell all guests with genuine hospitality
n
- Maintain a well‐organised and efficient host station, ensuring smooth communication with the service team.
n
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to inquiries or special requests.
n
- Keep an up‐to‐date knowledge of menus, daily specials, and promotions to answer guest queries confidently.
n




- Assist with administrative duties such as confirming bookings and noting guest preferences.
n

Qualifications

n

About You:

n

n
- Two years previous experience as a host/hostess in a luxury or lifestyle establishment
n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a warm and approachable manner
n
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask under pressure.
n
- Confident in using reservation and POS systems (training provided if required)
n
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and engaging in a fast‐paced environment.
n
- Adaptable availability to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
n
