Role PurposeThe Head of Tech & AI leads the vision, architecture, and hands-on execution of our digital ecosystem. Operating as our senior technical lead in a lean team, you will balance high-level systems design with direct hands-on build. You will expand our digital capability—integrating practical AI tools, optimising data pipelines, and ensuring robust security—to help us deliver seamless, empathetic digital support at scale.

Key Responsibilities1. AI & Systems Innovation

- Intelligent Personalisation: Architect and deploy ethical AI/ML capabilities and recommendation systems to deliver dynamic, tailored digital experiences for users.
- NLP & Data Insights: Implement Natural Language Processing (NLP) solutions to analyse unstructured data sets and deliver actionable organisational insights.
- Integrations: Design and maintain secure API frameworks to integrate our digital tools with external partner systems and third-party software.

2. Architecture & Technical Delivery

- Hands-on Execution: Act as the primary technical builder, managing backend logic, software configurations, database administration, and continuous system maintenance.
- Ecosystem Optimisation: Evaluate our tech stack continuously, resolving technical debt and introducing modern, cost-effective infrastructure solutions.
- Database & Pipeline Management:



Design and maintain scalable database structures (SQL), data workflows, and secure data pipelines.
- Vendor Management: Translate organisational strategy into functional specs when managing external agencies, suppliers, and development contractors.

3. Data & Security Governance

- Technical Synergy: Collaborate with internal data specialists to ensure robust data architecture, clean data capture, and reliable pipeline operations.
- Cybersecurity & Privacy: Embed privacy-by-design, modern data encryption, and safe de-identification practices across all digital touchpoints in compliance with Australian privacy laws.

Selection CriteriaEssential:

- Systems Architecture: Demonstrated experience building and scaling cloud infrastructure, web applications, and API integrations.
- Hands-on AI/NLP Implementation: Applied experience working with machine learning workflows, predictive logic, dynamic content delivery, and unstructured text analytics.
- Full-Stack Execution: Strong ability to write clean code, manage databases (SQL), configure APIs, and execute technical deliverables independently in a lean setting.
- Security & Compliance: Practical understanding of Australian privacy regulations, user encryption standards, and secure data de-identification techniques.
- Technical Translation: Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical executive teams and broad stakeholder groups.
- Agile Adaptability: Comfort balancing long-term technical strategy with day-to-day hands-on troubleshooting.

Desirable:

- Exposure to digital health, telehealth frameworks, or high-empathy user journeys.
- Hands-on experience integrating custom modules into CRM environments (e.g., Salesforce).
