Purpose of the Role
n BGIS is seeking an experienced Facilities Lead Engineer to join our Critical Infrastructure team in Norwest, supporting a highly controlled, high-availability operational environment.
n
In this role, you will support the smooth and safe operation of complex building systems that underpin continuous 24/7 services. You will work closely with technical teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure systems are maintained, monitored, and optimised in line with safety, compliance, and performance expectations.
n
This position suits someone who enjoys hands-on technical work, structured operational environments, and collaborative problem-solving across multiple stakeholders.
n
You will also play a key part in coordinating shift-based operations, supporting escalation events, and ensuring continuity of service during critical or high-priority incidents.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Operational & Technical Support
n - Support the operation and maintenance of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure to maintain high system availability
n - Monitor building systems (including HVAC, power, and control systems) and respond to alerts in line with procedures
n - Assist in maintaining operational documentation including MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs
n - Carry out routine inspections, plant checks, and non-critical maintenance activities
n - Support root cause analysis and incident response activities where required
n
Shift Coordination & Oversight
n - Support coordination of shift activities and ensure smooth handover between teams
n - Provide coverage support for operational leadership during absence periods
n - Assist in ensuring work orders, permits, and contractor activities are completed safely and on time
n - Contribute to scheduling, tracking, and completion of planned and reactive maintenance tasks
n - Maintain strong communication with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to support service continuity
n - Ensure compliance with safety procedures, risk assessments, and regulatory requirements
n - Support accurate reporting across operational activity, incidents, and maintenance works
n
Education, Experience & Skills
n
Essential:
n - Trade qualification or technical background in electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or building services
n - Experience working in a 24/7 high-availability or critical environment
n - Strong understanding of building infrastructure systems (power, cooling, UPS,
generators, etc.)
n - Experience working with operational procedures (MOPs, SOPs, EOPs)
n - Ability to work under pressure while maintaining focus on safety and accuracy
n - Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
n - Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with operational systems/tools
n - Current driver's licence and willingness to travel between sites if required
n
Desirable:
n - Experience in data centre or highly regulated technical environments
n - Exposure to CMMS or facility management systems
n - Understanding of compliance frameworks and safety systems
n - Experience supporting or mentoring technical team members
n
