Role Overview The Housing Support Worker will be an integral part of the Housing & Homelessness Support program, which encompasses Immediate Housing Response, Sustaining Tenancies, and Mobile Support streams. Under the guidance of the Team Leader, you will provide flexible, integrated assistance to participants navigating housing challenges.
Key responsibilities include case management, advocacy, and practical assistance to help people experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness, secure and maintain safe and sustainable housing.
Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will possess a combination of relevant qualifications and experience in community work or social services, with a focus on housing or homelessness support. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships with participants and stakeholders.
- Qualifications in community work, human services, or related fields
- Experience in housing, case management, or outreach support
- Knowledge of Queensland housing pathways, tenancy sustainment practices, social housing systems and residential tenancy process and law is highly desirable
- Strong advocacy skills to support participants effectively
Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity, particularly in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, while effectively managing a diverse caseload.
Salary & Benefits
This position offers a salary of $40.49 per hour under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS) Level 3.1, along with the opportunity for salary packaging.
