Representing a Growing Small-to-Mid-Tier Mining Company

We are partnering with an ambitious and growth-focused mining company to appoint a Commercial Superintendent to lead the commercial team to develop and maintain best practices across finance, procurement, logistics and systems.
n
Our client is a energetic, small-to-mid-tier mining business with an established, producing base metals operation and working toward bringing a second project into production within the next few years. They foster a collaborative, non-hierarchical culture and are seeking a Commercial Superintendent with a dynamic and innovative approach to guide the team in making decisions that maximise value.

The Opportunity
n
Reporting the General Manager, you will assume responsibility for ensuring effective commercial support to all of the operation across both the mine and expansion projects. As a member of the senior leadership team you will have strong links to Group Finance and regularly interact with senior executives.

Key Responsibilities
n
n
- Ensure company policies, standards and procedures are embedded in development plans and adhered to during implementation.
n
- Contribute to senior management decision-making and business planning.
n
- Provide commercial advice and innovative solutions that support operational and financial targets.
n
- Support the achievement of departmental and organisational goals through collaboration and effective communication.
n
- Manage cost and management accounting and reporting activities, including the production of accurate and timely cash flow forecasts.
n
- Assist with statutory and financial accounting, including balance sheet reconciliations.
n
- Manage site ERP (Pronto), fixed asset register, accounts payable and payroll activities.
n
- Develop and maintain reporting and analysis tools and capital expenditure evaluation tools.
n
- Manage budgeting, forecasting and monthly reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, continuous improvement, and effective communication to site and Group management teams.
n
- Champion the Company's commitment to safety, risk and change management, continuous improvement and community engagement.
n

Candidate Profile
n
n
- CA or CPA qualified
n
- Finance Degree or similar qualification required
n
- Experience in good procurement and contract management
n
- Demonstrated experience in senior commercial roles - preferably in site-based mining positions
n
- Extensive experience with ERP, BI and other IT systems as required
n
- Experience with Pronto and PowerBI highly regarded
n
- Willing to relocate to Broken Hill (relocation and rent subsidy provided)
n
- Alternatively, an option of being Adelaide-based and working a 5/2 – 4/3 roster can be negotiated.
