Note: This is a temporary contract for 12 months.
n
We are seeking a agile Coordinator to establish and lead the new Orange Regional Planetarium. You will be establishing the latest cultural, educational and entertainment destination for the Central West.
n
About the role
n
As Planetarium Coordinator you will be responsible for managing a small team, coordinating day-to-day operations of the facility, developing engaging programs and experiences, building new partnerships and supporting promotional activities.
n
Key responsibilities include
n
n
- Coordinate the daily operations of the Orange Regional Planetarium
n
- Promote the Planetarium and contribute to audience growth and community engagement initiatives
n
- Develop and deliver engaging planetarium shows, educational programs, events and school holiday activities
n
- Build relationships with schools, community groups, tourism organisations and cultural and corporate institutions
n
- Lead and support staff and volunteers to deliver exceptional visitor experiences
n
- Manage bookings, budgets, purchasing, retail operations and reporting requirements
n
n

Criteria
n
n
- Qualifications in Museum Studies, Education, Science Communication, Business, or a related discipline, and/or equivalent relevant experience
n
- Experience coordinating operations within a museum, cultural facility, visitor attraction, science centre or similar public-facing venue
n
- Current NSW Working With Children Check, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement
n
- Satisfactory Criminal Records Check
n
- Excellent communication, customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
n
- Experience developing audiences, promoting programs and supporting community engagement initiatives
n
- Confidence in public speaking and presenting information to a range of audiences
n
- Knowledge of astronomy, science communication or planetarium operations, or the ability to quickly develop this knowledge
n
- Availability to work weekends, school holiday programs and occasional out-of-hours events as required
n
