Sargeant Transport is seeking an experienced Heavy Vehicle Technician to join our Ballarat workshop.

This is a hands-on role responsible for servicing, diagnosing and repairing trucks and trailers across our fleet. You’ll work with a range of leading vehicle brands while helping maintain high standards of safety, reliability and compliance.

The Role

Reporting to the Ballarat Workshop Supervisor, your responsibilities will include:

- Completing scheduled servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance

- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults

- Undertaking major repairs on trucks and trailers

- Carrying out vehicle inspections in line with manufacturer requirements

- Ensuring all work complies with NHVR and workplace safety standards

- Accurately completing job cards, service records and safety documentation





- Using diagnostic equipment and technical resources to identify faults

- Helping improve repair processes and minimise vehicle downtime

- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised workshop

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Certificate III qualification as a Heavy Vehicle Technician or equivalent

- Experience servicing and repairing trucks and trailers in a fleet environment

- Experience working with brands such as Kenworth, Mercedes-Benz, Freightliner, Volvo and Mack

- Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills

- Basic electrical fault-finding and welding experience

- A sound understanding of WHS and safe workshop practices

- Solid communication skills and attention to detail

- The ability to accurately complete job cards and service records

- A current HR or HC driver’s licence will be highly regarded

This is a physically active position that requires manual handling and heavy lifting.
