Role Overview
n
Registered Nurse – Operating Room Suite (ORS)
n
The ORS nurse provides safe, quality, evidence‐based nursing care for patients during the perioperative phase within a multidisciplinary team.
n
Responsibilities
n
n
- Deliver safe, quality and clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patients, families and other health professionals.
n
- Collaborate with the perioperative team to provide evidence‐based care throughout the surgical journey.
n
- Assist with perioperative nursing responsibilities in theatres, post‐anaesthetic care areas and scrub scout roles.
n
- Support recent graduates, undergraduates and students through transition to practice and ongoing education.
n
n
Preferred Skills and Experience
n
n
- Experience in theatre or operating room nursing (as an undergraduate or Registered Nurse).
n
- Experience in anaesthetic/post‐anaesthetic care or scrub scout duties.
n
- Minimum of 12 months operating room experience within the last 3 years or 3 years within the last 5 years.
n
- Successful completion of a 12‐month Transition to Practice Perioperative Program.
n
- Post‐graduate certificate or higher in Perioperative Nursing.
n
n
Appointment Details and Benefits
n
n
- Full‐time and part‐time permanent positions – up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing immediately.
n
- Fixed‐term casual positions – 2 years, as required.
n
- Salary range: $75,902 – $102,908 pro rata per annum, plus 11% superannuation and salary packaging.
n
- Grade 4 salary access available on successful promotion.
n
- Salary governed by the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreements 2023 and 2013.
n
n
Eligibility and Qualifications
n
n
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
n
- All required registrations and licences must remain current throughout employment.
n
- Pre‐employment checks: convictions (violent, sexual, serious drug, dishonesty), identification, and disciplinary action in previous employment.
n
