DAI is a leading e-commerce parcel delivery business headquartered in Melbourne, supporting major international brands across Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore.
Our team is expanding, and we are now seeking an In-House Legal Counsel who will be responsible for the delivery of legal services to executive management, business units and other key decision makers to support the achievement of strategic objectives while protecting against unacceptable legal risk. The In-House Legal Counsel will play a vital role in safeguarding the business operations and ensuring continued success.
We have a team locally, and at various overseas sites – and the global team continues to grow.
Here’s what you will doing:
- Providing sound legal advice on a range of practice areas, including general commercial matters, business acquisitions, possible joint ventures, privacy and data security, intellectual property, software licensing, dispute resolution, tender responses, company policies and mergers and acquisitions
- Preparing, amending, drafting and negotiating commercial agreements for the business and its vendors, clients and other third parties.
- Manage complex legal matters and projects with regular stakeholder engagement
- Provide advice on sales, distribution and licensing agreements including drafting,
reviewing and negotiating a high volume of critical matters.
- Provide advice in support of routine transactional matters including non-disclosure and other contracts in support of the company.
- Critically analyse legal risks related to current products and services, including penetration into new markets.
- Responding to queries regarding interpretation of contractual terms and conditions, as well as reviewing and preparing other legal documentation, as required.
- Conducting research and interpreting applicable rules and legislation impacting business activities in other countries and advising the business on implementation requirements.
Here’s what your background looks like:
- Minimum of eight years PQE of which 3 years must have occurred in-house in a commercial focus
- Practising certificate providing ability to practice in Victoria
- The ability to work independently, exercise good judgement, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- A proactive approach to legal matters and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Ability to prioritise and manage a high volume of work;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to distil complex legal concepts into accessible legal advice;
- Significant experience in intellectual property law and commercialisation would be highly regarded
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity and attention to detail.
