Industrial Designer | Junior to Mid-Level ? Murwillumbah, NSW | Full-Time
Currently recruiting an Industrial Designer for an established and growing Australian marine design business based in Murwillumbah.
We're open to speaking with both junior designers looking to accelerate their development and mid-level designers ready to take greater ownership of their work.
This is a hands-on design role where you'll see your work move beyond the screen, from concept and detailed design through to fabrication, assembly and ultimately onto the water.
About the Role
Working as part of an experienced Design Team, you'll contribute to the design and development of aluminium vessels and components, producing practical, accurate and fabrication-ready design outputs.
Your responsibilities will include
- Developing design concepts, layouts and components.
- Producing accurate 3D CAD models and fabrication drawings.
- Progressing assigned design work through to fabrication-ready documentation.
- Incorporating constructability and performance feedback into designs.
- Supporting design refinement throughout fabrication and commissioning.
- Maintaining organised and traceable design files and documentation.
- Working collaboratively with senior designers, operations, builders and clients.
- Contributing to design reviews and continuous improvement.
About You We're looking for someone who combines creativity with practical technical thinking.
You'll ideally bring
- 0–5 years' experience in Industrial Design, Mechanical Design, Product Design or a closely related discipline.
- Solid 3D CAD capability,
with Autodesk Inventor experience highly regarded.
- An understanding of fabrication, materials and manufacturing constraints.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
- A practical approach to problem solving.
- Good communication and the ability to work collaboratively.
- A willingness to take ownership, learn and continue developing your technical capability.
Marine experience is advantageous but not essential. We're particularly interested in designers who enjoy understanding how something will actually be built, not simply how it looks on screen. That distinction is consistent with CNC's existing Industrial Designer role definition and its emphasis on buildability, execution and real-world outcomes.
Why Apply?
This is an prospect to join a collaborative, design-led environment where you'll work closely with experienced designers and see the real-world outcome of your work. For a developing designer, there is significant opportunity to build technical capability, increase autonomy and progress toward more senior design responsibilities. CNC's existing career pathway deliberately supports progression from Foundation through Professional and ultimately Senior levels as capability, responsibility and contribution increase.
For a more experienced designer, there is scope to take greater ownership of design work from the outset and contribute to improving technical systems, workflows and the capability of the broader team.
If you're passionate about design, enjoy solving practical problems and want to see the things you design actually get built and used, I'd love to hear from you.
