About the job Course Coordinator - Community Service

Key responsibilities
n
The key responsibilities of the Course Coordinator are to contribute to the achievement of the strategic objectives of the Institute (or equivalent) and the University by demonstrating academic leadership of a course. The responsibilities include:
n
1. Maintain quality outcomes and regulatory compliance of the course, ensuring it aligns with the strategic objectives.
n
2. Assist the Academic Manager to review and renew the courses curriculum for continuous improvement, in conjunction with unit coordinators.
n
3. Assist Academic Operations by offering course specific advice about staff workload and assist with the preparation of sessional staff contract requests.
n
4. Efficiently and effectively plan, schedule, and coordinate the delivery of all units in the course across all campuses, partner providers and delivery modes, in close consultation with the Discipline Leaders.
n
5. Recommend course, and/or unit modifications, and coordinate the required documents.
n
6. Collaborate with other Course Coordinators, where applicable, to assist students in enhancing their learning experience and progressing smoothly in their respective courses.
n
7. Facilitate a course framework that ensures units meet quality standards through, assurance of learning processes, discipline and/or industry standards, including accreditation requirements where applicable.
n
8. Support students in the course to foster their wellbeing and offer assistance or refer to a relevant support service.
n
9. Liaise with course teaching staff to ensure consistency and continuity of requirements and curriculum across and through the course.
n
10. Timetabling of classes.
n
11. Liaise with staff in the Academic Services on course information and Work Integrated Learning matters.
n

Provide advice in relation to student study plans, progression, credit transfers, exemptions and special consideration and communicate this to unit coordinators where relevant.
n
13. Assist and support students identified as demonstrating a pattern of low attendance, disengagement, lack of participation, or English language difficulty across multiple units in the course. Monitor progression through individual units or the entire course.
n
14. Provide effective feedback and consultation processes with students on course-related matters.
n
15. Ensure that accurate final grades for all units in the course are submitted in a timely manner.
n
16. Ensure that approval of unit result amendments are undertaken in a timely manner.
n
17. Assist in implementing, monitoring and reviewing student retention and success strategies.
n
18. Liaise with industry and assist in the building of partnership initiatives.
n
19. Support internal audits and assist the Academic Manager in the creation and monitoring of rectification plans as required.
n
20. Foster a high-performance culture in the training and assessment team by providing explicit goals and regular feedback.
n
Qualifications and Experience:
n
n
- Diploma or Bachelor qualification in Community service or relevant field of study
n
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE 40116 or higher or equivalent
n
- At least 5 years current community service or relevant industry experience
n
- 3+ years of experience as a Trainer and Assessor
n
- Detailed understanding of the Standards for Registered Training Organizations (RTOs) 2015 and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018
n
- Sound knowledge of the relevant training package and units of competency
n
n
