Role Description The Landscape Estimator is a full-time, hybrid role based in Sydney, NSW. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and timely estimates for commercial landscape projects, including reviewing plans and specifications, quantifying materials and labor, and gathering supplier and subcontractor pricing. Day to day tasks include analysing tender documents, preparing detailed quotes, and collaborating with project managers and site supervisors to ensure estimates align with construction programs.
The Landscape
Estimator will update and maintain estimating databases, participate in handovers from tender to delivery, and support value engineering to meet budget and design requirements.
The role also involves coordinating with the scheduling team, contributing to SWMS and project documentation, and maintaining explicit communication with internal stakeholders to ensure efficient project execution.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in reading and interpreting landscape and construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Experience in quantity take-offs, cost estimating for materials and labor, and preparing detailed quotes.
- Proficiency with estimating software, spreadsheets, and general computer literacy (e.g., MS Excel, MS Office).
- Knowledge of commercial landscaping practices, construction processes, and relevant safety standards and SWMS requirements.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with builders, suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills to ensure accurate and competitive estimates.
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines, prioritise tasks, and work reliably in an on-site environment at times.
- Relevant qualification in construction, landscaping, quantity surveying, or a related field is beneficial; prior experience in commercial landscape estimating is highly regarded.
