Leading Fed Government Department is looking for 2 x Lead Data Engineers - 12-24 month Contract, AWS / Snowflake

- $1000-$1100 per day - Contract role - 12-24 months

Full We're working with a leading Australian organisation looking for Lead Data Engineers to join a growing data engineering function and help shape a up-to-date cloud data platform.

This is a hands-on lead role, working across AWS and Snowflake to design and deliver scalable data solutions supporting enterprise analytics, reporting and AI initiatives.

The Role

You'll work closely with Data Architects, Engineers and business stakeholders to:

- Lead the design and development of AWS and Snowflake data solutions
- Build scalable, reliable data pipelines and data products
- Design data models and cloud data architecture for enterprise environments
- Drive engineering standards around data quality, performance, CI/CD and automation
- Mentor and support other Data Engineers




- Translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Contribute to the ongoing modernisation of the organisation's data platform

About You

You'll ideally have

- Strong commercial experience across AWS and Snowflake
- Advanced SQL and strong data engineering fundamentals
- Experience designing and building enterprise-scale data pipelines
- Strong understanding of cloud data architecture and data modelling
- Experience with Python, dbt, Airflow and AWS native data services
- Experience leading technical delivery and mentoring engineers
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Candidates can be based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane and must be Australian Citizens. If you're an experienced Lead Data Engineer, or a Senior Data Engineer ready to step into a Lead role, I'd be keen to hear from you.
