The role requires the successful applicant to maintain Wickham Freight Lines’ fleet to a high standard, while working within a team environment. Regular repairs, maintenance, modifications and services are to be carried out using workshop facilities at a satisfactory level of service in a timely and effective manner.
Key Responsibilities
Tasks includes:
- Maintain, tests, service and repairs trucks and their mechanical parts including brakes, steering, transmissions and suspensions
- Detecting, diagnosing and repairing faults in truck engines and parts
- Repairing and replacing worn and defective parts and referring to service manuals as needed
- Performing scheduled maintenance services, such as oil changes, lubrications and engine tune-ups, to achieve smoother running of vehicles
- Service and repair braking systems
- Diagnose and repair heavy diesel vehicle shafts
- Testing and adjusting mechanical parts after being repaired for proper performance
- Diagnosing and testing parts
- Complete all required documentation relating to NHVAS procedures in a timely and accurate manner
- Other relevant tasks as required
Skill & Experience
Skills and experience
- Three years plus experience as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role.
- Ability to carry out mechanical tasks with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and to make independent decisions.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to work within a team workplace.
- Possess a driver’s licence. HR or HC desirable.
