APS6 Workforce Strategy and Analytics Adviser

The APS6 Workforce Strategy and Analytics Adviser in the Organisational Strategy team is critical to delivering Treasury’s workforce strategies and commitments, both internally and across government. The role supports how Treasury uses workforce data and insights to inform strategic decision-making and deliver high-priority workforce initiatives.

The Organisational Strategy team acts as the project management office for the APS Employee Census and Strategic Workforce Plan (SWP) delivery. The team delivers twice-yearly updates on Treasury’s Workforce Intelligence and leads delivery of the Treasury Location Plan and other SWP initiatives. The team works across the People and Organisational Strategy Branch and the broader department to deliver high-quality workforce reporting, support strategic workforce planning, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen Treasury’s workforce management.

The responsibilities of the APS6 Adviser may vary across the work of the Organisational Strategy team.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic workforce planning and delivery

- Contribute to the delivery of the Strategic Workforce Plan (SWP), including coordination and delivery of key actions such as the Location Plan and People Architecture Program, including position management.
- Translate strategic objectives into practical work plans and deliverables. Clearly link organisational goals to operational tasks and outputs.
- Gather, research and analyse information from diverse sources to identify trends, broader influences and workforce risks. Provide evidence based advice to inform decision making.

Workforce reporting, analytics and insights

- Deliver complex workforce reporting and analysis on strategic workforce objectives, trends, demographics and performance for senior leadership. Ensure outputs are accurate, logically structured and aligned to business needs.
- Deliver SES workforce reporting, meet Australian Public Service Commission requirements, prepare organisational charts, and respond to ad hoc data requests, while progressing the SES profile project to improve senior workforce insights.
- Lead the coordination of major reporting and input into parliamentary processes (including Annual Report, Agency Survey, Corporate Plan, Senate Estimate briefings and Questions on Notice), ensuring data is integrated, aligned and delivered on time.
- Use data and analysis to develop clear, well structured narratives for decision makers. Select appropriate levels of detail and limiting unnecessary jargon. Progress work with minimal reliance on additional supervision or rework.

Program and stakeholder management

- Support program management and analysis for staff surveys, including the APS Employee Census. Deliver to agreed timeframes through effective planning, managing competing priorities and milestone management.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with stakeholders across the branch and department. Anticipate needs, provide timely and professional advice, and keep stakeholders informed.
- Progress delegated tasks through to completion and deadline. Seek feedback to ensure outputs meet expectations.

- Experience contributing to workforce analytics,



reporting and/or strategic workforce planning activities, including complex reporting for senior leaders.

Desirable Skills / Experience

Experience working with Human Resource Management Information Systems highly desirable, particularly Aurion.

Eligibility

Under Section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees of the Treasury are required to be Australian Citizens.

Successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain, at a minimum, a Baseline security clearance, and will be subject to pre-employment screening checks.

Some positions may require a higher level of clearance, as specified in the position description.
