Skytek Pty Ltd (associated entity of Aerlink Pty Ltd) is a leading maintenance, repair and overhaul organisation (MRO), specialising in fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Our heavy maintenance facility is based in Cairns, Far North Queensland where an exciting chance now exists for highly motivated individuals to become an integral part of our engineering team.
We are looking for a hands-on B2 Avionics Engineer who is confident working directly on aircraft and can contribute across avionics installations, modifications, troubleshooting and line maintenance.
The ideal candidate should be capable of taking an installation from equipment preparation and wiring through to installation, testing, troubleshooting and certification. Experience working with Part 21 design and engineering organizations would also be highly desirable.
Essential Skills & Experience
- CASA B2 Avionics Engineer licence or recognised equivalent.
- Strong practical aircraft avionics installation experience.
- Experience with aircraft electrical and avionics fault finding.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics and technical documentation.
- High standard of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to aviation safety, quality and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Experience
- Line maintenance experience.
- Experience working with Part 21 design and engineering organisations and implementing approved modifications and engineering data.
- Aircraft modification and avionics upgrade experience.
- Aircraft wiring loom manufacture and termination.
- Experience with Garmin, Collins, Honeywell, BendixKing or similar avionics equipment.
- EFIS, GPS/GNSS, communications and navigation systems.
- CASA-approved maintenance organisation experience.
- AOG and operational maintenance experience.
Aircraft Experience Type ratings are not essential. Experience on the following aircraft would be highly regarded:
- DHC-6 Twin Otter
- ATR 42/72
- Beechcraft B200 / King Air
- Bell 212 / Bell 412
- BK117
- Bell 206 / Bell 407
Experience on other fixed-wing or rotary-wing aircraft will also be considered. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out avionics installations and modifications.
- Perform line maintenance and defect rectification.
- Troubleshoot and rectify electrical and avionics faults.
- Install and modify aircraft wiring, looms, connectors, antennas and avionics equipment.
- Manufacture and terminate aircraft wiring looms.
- Complete avionics upgrades and equipment integration.
- Work with Part 21 organisations to implement approved modifications.
- Conduct functional, continuity and system testing.
- Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams and approved technical data.
- Complete scheduled and unscheduled B2 maintenance.
- Provide AOG and operational maintenance support when required.
- Complete maintenance documentation and certification in accordance with CASA requirements and approved data.
Overall, the priority for the role is a practical, hands-on B2 engineer with strong avionics installation experience. Type ratings are desirable but not essential, with line maintenance and Part 21. Successful applicants must have a commitment to safety and employment is conditional upon satisfying aviation security and screening procedures. Must hold a current Australian drivers license.
