A unique opportunity exists for a Law Graduate to join our Litigation team in Sydney. This role would suit either a graduate or someone who has recently commenced their career and is looking to join private practice.
This graduate role forms part of a graduate cohort across our Melbourne and Sydney offices. PLT (practical legal training) will be provided as part of the traineeship, with the ability to attend our specialised in-house graduate training.

The Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice
Our Litigation & Dispute Resolution Practice in Sydney is led by five partners: Jonathan Milner, John Mitchell, Susanna Ford, Stephen Lloyd and Ben Friis-O’Toole.
The five partners each practice in the areas of commercial litigation and dispute resolution, whilst having their own area of specialty:
- Jonathan works across corporate regulatory investigations, corporate recovery, white collar crime and insolvency;
- John focuses on corporate regulatory investigations, insolvency and reconstruction, and banking and insurance litigation;
- Susanna's areas of specialisation include regulatory investigations and enforcement action, white collar defence work, litigation with respect to managed investment schemes, financial services and products, including the defence of class actions;
- Stephen focusses on insolvency litigation and commercial contractual disputes, as well as regulatory investigations and white collar defence work; and
- Ben’s areas of specialisation include white collar crimes and investigations, restructuring and insolvency and, competition and consumer law.
The partners are supported by a number of talented senior associates, lawyers and graduates. Lawyers in the group work across a number of partners to ensure they develop a well-rounded, generalist skill set and the ability to service our client base.
The role
We're looking for an outstanding graduate who is a self-starter with highly developed analytical skills, an eye for detail and strong interpersonal skills. You have an exceptional legal mind, as well as commercial and strategic nous. You enjoy feeling challenged, and to be given opportunities to take on additional responsibility with autonomy.

You will have
- completed your law degree and achieved excellent academic results;
- achieved strong results in taxation law with a genuine passion for this subject matter;
- an ability to communicate, both in writing and orally, clearly and concisely;
- strong interpersonal skills;
- excellent attention to detail;
- an ability to understand and identify the key issues in a legal matter;
- good judgement and common sense;
- the ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and
- a passion for a career in commercial law.
