For the Lawyer Looking to Use Their Litigation Skills Differently

Many lawyers want their work to make a difference. Few roles provide the opportunity to combine high-quality legal practice with meaningful community impact on a daily basis. This is one of those opportunities.

The Firm

This national Australian firm is recognised for its commitment to innovation, collaboration and community engagement. Alongside its commercial practice, the firm has built a highly regarded Pro Bono & Community team that works closely with Community Legal Centres, referral organisations and charities to improve access to justice for vulnerable individuals and communities.

The Timing

As the national Pro Bono & Community practice continues to grow, an opportunity has arisen for a Lawyer to join the team in Brisbane. It's an ideal role for a litigator who is looking to broaden their experience while contributing to work with genuine social impact.

The Work Itself

Working closely with the Head of Pro Bono & Community, you'll advise and represent pro bono clients across a diverse range of matters, with particular exposure to employment law, consumer law, elder abuse, debt disputes and human rights issues.

Beyond client work, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to legal clinics, collaborate with Community Legal Centres, assist with pro bono referrals and play a role in broader community initiatives and projects.

The work is varied, people-focused and offers a unique combination of litigation, advocacy and stakeholder engagement.

Where You'll Land

You’ll join a collaborative national team that is passionate about improving access to justice and delivering meaningful outcomes for clients who may otherwise struggle to obtain legal assistance. The culture is inclusive, supportive and driven by a genuine commitment to community impact.

The firm complements this with:

- flexible working arrangements
- up to 26 weeks paid parental leave
- solid learning and development programs
- wellbeing initiatives
- a workplace that actively invests in diversity, inclusion and career development

Sound Like You?

You're a lawyer with around 2+ years' post-admission litigation experience and strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in pro bono, human rights, community legal services or social justice matters will be highly regarded, but isn't essential.

You enjoy working closely with people, can navigate sensitive and sometimes challenging situations with empathy and professionalism, and are genuinely interested in using your legal skills to make a positive impact in the community.

"Define your ideal next step."
