Gravity Media Australia is looking for Broadcast Engineer to join our technical team and help keep our production facilities, control rooms, studios and broadcast systems operating at their best.
This role works closely alongside the Broadcast Network Engineer to support and manage our SMPTE ST 2110 IP media fabric and endpoint infrastructure.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who loves broadcast technology, live production and solving complex technical challenges.
What you’ll be doing:
Facility Operations & Production Support
- Oversee the configuration, lining up, calibration, and maintenance of studio hardware, including cameras, vision switchers, audio consoles, multiviewers, and replay systems.
- Ensure Production Control Rooms (PCRs), Audio Control Rooms (ACRs), and studio spaces are fully prepped and operational.
- Minimise loss of service during live productions, diagnosing signal path or hardware issues quickly under live broadcast conditions.
Hybrid IP & ST 2110 Infrastructure Support
- Collaborate closely alongside the Broadcast Network Engineer to manage, configure, and monitor the facility’s SMPTE ST 2110 IP media ecosystem.
- Configure and troubleshoot ST 2110 endpoints, gateways, video/audio edge devices, and NMOS connection services.
- Assist with PTP timecode synchronization monitoring and redundancy path checks across production chains.
- Support digital IP audio transport protocols (AES67, Dante) integrated across studio audio mixing desks, intercoms, and routers.
- Support baseband SDI and MADI facilities used widely across the facility to supplement the IP and ST 2110 infrastructure.
- Perform physical installation, cabling, termination, and commissioning of new broadcast hardware and signal processing gear.
- Maintain specialist equipment for video and audio production, broadcast,
edit and interactive media
- Collaborate with directors, production crews, and clients to execute custom signal routing and technical workflow setups for complex live broadcasts.
- Maintain technical documentation, equipment layouts, cable run
What you’ll bring
We’re looking for a practical, technically minded engineer who enjoys working in a fast‑paced workplace and isn’t afraid to get hands‑on.
You’ll ideally have:
- Experience in broadcast engineering, television production or a similar technical environment.
- Strong knowledge of broadcast video and audio systems.
- Experience with SDI and/or IP-based broadcast infrastructure.
- An understanding of SMPTE ST 2110, NMOS, PTP, AES67 and Dante would be highly valued.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to technical reliability.
- The ability to work collaboratively with engineers, production crews, clients and suppliers.
- A calm, practical approach when supporting live events and time‑critical production environments.
- Ability to build strong partnerships with all key stakeholders including management and staff. As well as build strong relationships with relevant suppliers and manufacturers
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of the industry, the Company, your marketplace, and our competition;
- Assist in the identification of areas where improvements can be achieved;
- Participate in the ongoing training and development of yourself and the team.
