A Scraper Operator is responsible for operating heavy earthmoving equipment to cut, haul, and spread soil and other materials across civil construction sites. This role is essential in bulk earthworks and site preparation.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct pre-operational safety checks on the scraper daily, identifying and reporting any maintenance or repair needs
- Operate scraper to excavate, transport, and distribute materials efficiently and accurately
- Adjust scraper settings to suit ground conditions and project specifications
- Coordinate with other plant operators and truck drivers on site to maintain efficient material flow and site productivity
- Work closely with site supervisors, surveyors, and other plant operators to achieve earthmoving targets
- Support the setting up of haul roads and access tracks to facilitate safe and efficient scraper movement
- Maintain a clean and organised worksite through regular site tidy-up and housekeeping activities
- Strictly adhere to all company policies, including Safe Work Method Statements, OH&S; Policy (including PPE), and Drug and Alcohol Policy
About you
- Hold a current Certificate of Competence for Scraper Operation issued by a Registered Training Organisation
- Hold a valid Construction Induction (White) Card
- Hold a current and valid Driver's Licence
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid attention to detail
- Ability to apply knowledge of OH&S; requirements to maintain a safe working environment for all employees
- Ability to read and interpret site plans
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in civil construction, particularly in bulk earthworks activities
