The role The Manager, Enterprise Risk is a senior specialist role within APRA's Enterprise Risk team. Working in a job-share arrangement, the role plays a key part in strengthening APRA's enterprise risk and compliance capabilities by driving framework uplift, delivering enterprise-wide risk insights and supporting better decision-making across the organisation. Support APRA's continued development of an outcome-focused Line 2 function, working closely with Risk Partners, Internal Audit and business stakeholders to embed practical risk management tools, guidance and insights across the organisation.
The team The Enterprise Risk team is responsible for maintaining and operationalising APRA's risk and compliance management frameworks, providing a holistic view of APRA's risk profile and contributing to the embedding of the desired risk behaviours and culture.
The management of risks is everyone's responsibility, and the role of the Enterprise Risk team is to ensure that each of APRA's Division and staff has the information, tools, and knowledge necessary to effectively manage their risks.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of APRA's enterprise risk and compliance frameworks, policies, standards and supporting tools to ensure fit for purpose;
- Prepare and contribute to risk reporting,
analysis and insights for senior management and governance forums, including supporting reporting to the Executive Board, Audit and Risk Committee, and other governance committees;
- Support the development and maintenance of risk monitoring approaches, indicators and metrics that provide meaningful insights into APRA's risk profile, control environment and organisational risk trends;
- Analyse risk, control, compliance and assurance information to identify trends, themes and emerging risks and provide practical recommendations to management;
- Lead the analysis of incidents, issues and control weaknesses to identify trends, underlying causes and systemic risks, and work with stakeholders to implement practical and sustainable improvements to APRA's control workplace and risk management practices; and
- Provide advice, guidance and practical tools that support business areas in understanding and meeting their risk and compliance obligations.
About you
- Demonstrated experience translating risk frameworks and policy requirements into practical tools and guidance that strengthen organisational risk capability;
- Proven experience contributing to and leading risk framework uplift initiatives,
including the development of enterprise risk policies, standards, methodologies and governance processes;
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide advice and reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including Boards;
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and influence at senior levels; and
- Formal risk management certification, training or equivalent professional recognition is highly regarded, for example ISO 31000, ISACA CRISC, Management of Risk practitioner.
