You know a workshop does not run on a production plan alone. It runs on explicit priorities, capable leaders, honest communication and someone who refuses to let safety, quality or delivery become negotiable.

I am Andrew from Itch Recruitment, and I am working with an established mining-services manufacturer to find its next Manufacturing Manager.

This is a newly created leadership role, based in Perth, for someone who can bring order, energy and commercial common sense to two busy production streams. You will lead the Ceramics and Hose workshops through two direct-report Supervisors, with around 35 operators across the broader team.

The real job

You will be accountable for safety, quality and delivery across both workshops, while making sure capacity, labour, overtime, scheduling and factory orders are properly planned rather than managed by panic.

That means working closely with Sales, Warehousing, Drafting, Engineering and the wider Operations team to keep customer commitments realistic and production flowing. You will use the ERP system to manage factory orders accurately, review quoted versus actual hours, identify bottlenecks and keep a close eye on where time and margin disappear.

You will be at your best here if you:

- Have led supervisors and operational teams across more than one production stream
- Have already spent three to five years leading production in a manufacturing environment, ideally one supporting mining, mineral processing, engineered products or industrial services.
- Know how to plan capacity, schedule labour and manage changing customer priorities
- Are confident working with ERP-driven factory order management
- Can read and interpret technical drawings, manufacturing information and production data




- Have strong safety leadership and understand that reporting, investigation and follow-through matter
- Enjoy improving process, reducing waste and making work easier to do properly
- Can work productively with engineers, drafters, warehouse teams, salespeople and customers
- Bring a practical, “how can we make this happen?” mindset without sacrificing standards
- Have an engineering or similar tertiary qualification; this is preferred, not the only pathway in

Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma or other manufacturing-excellence programs will be useful, but genuine experience improving a factory matters more than being able to talk about it.
