Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer who has a passion for designing, developing, building and implementing components and technologies that contribute to both driver safety and comfort?

We have an opportunity to join the team in Tasmania at the centre of excellence for a global OEM leader in mining equipment, technology and digital solutions. You'll contribute to the design of driver cab systems for large heavy duty machinery.

Responsibilities

- Design and development of cab systems and components. Utilize ProE/Creo and Teamcenter to create recent designs required to solve complex cab related problems and facilitate print release for factory implementation.
- Organizing, coordinating, and executing the building, testing, and analysis of prototypes. Provide build support for pilot and production factory cab builds.
- Developing and documenting functional requirements and translating into detail design documents.
- Participating in and supporting proposal preparation, cost estimates, and technical reports.

Key Skills Required

- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviours.




- Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
- Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
- Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Proficient at ProE/Creo and Teamcenter. Utilize these tools to develop cab designs to solve customer problems and create customer value.
- Product Design - MFG: Knowledge of processes, approaches, tools and techniques of product design; ability to convert customer and market requirements into product design.
- Product Design and Development: Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

Qualifications/Experience Requirements

- Desired - Degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum
- Previous experience working with Caterpillar products and/or in a similar role
- Proficiency in ProE/CREO.

Additional Information

- Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Citizenship or Australian Permanent Residency
- 12 month contract
- Working five days per week in the Tasmanian office
