We're partnering with a fast-growing technology consultancy that's delivering innovative projects across cloud, software engineering, data, and AI. As they continue to expand, they're looking for a Software Engineering Consultant to join their Sydney team and work on a diverse range of client engagements.

This is not a pure AI role. The ideal candidate will bring strong software engineering fundamentals, cloud expertise, and DevOps experience, combined with a genuine interest in emerging AI technologies.

About the Role

As a Software Engineering Consultant, you'll work closely with clients to understand business challenges and design scalable, secure, and modern technology solutions. You'll be involved in everything from architecture and application development through to cloud infrastructure and deployment. Increasingly, you'll have opportunities to incorporate AI tooling and capabilities where they create genuine business value.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, build, and deploy production-grade software solutions

- Architect scalable applications, APIs, and cloud-native systems

- Implement DevOps best practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and containerisation

- Collaborate directly with clients and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver outcomes

- Identify opportunities to leverage AI tools, automation, and intelligent workflows

- Contribute to engineering standards, best practices, and solution architecture

- Manage technical projects from requirements through to delivery

- Support and mentor client teams throughout implementation projects

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience





- Strong software engineering background with Python and/or JavaScript

- Hands-on cloud experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP

- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code

- Strong understanding of software architecture and end-to-end solution design

- Experience building and integrating APIs

- Knowledge of software and cloud security best practices

- Proven experience delivering and supporting production environments

- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

AI Exposure & Curiosity

We're looking for engineers who are actively exploring AI technologies as part of their professional development and delivery toolkit. Experience with any of the following would be highly regarded:

- GitHub Copilot or other AI-assisted development tools

- Generative AI and Large Language Models

- RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)

- AI Agents or agentic workflows

- MCP (Model Context Protocol)

- LangChain, LlamaIndex, Google ADK, or similar frameworks
