Motel Managers / Management Couple – Coastal Resort
Location: Kalbarri, Western Australia
Employment Type: Full-Time
Accommodation: On-site residence provided
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Management Couple to take the lead on day-to- day operations of an established 79-room holiday resort in Kalbarri, one of Western Australia's premier coastal tourism destinations.
This is a unique opportunity for hands-on managers / couple to work together, deliver outstanding guest experiences, maintain high operational standards, drive financial performance, and contribute to the long-term success of a well-regarded regional resort property.
The successful couple will receive a competitive combined salary package, fully furnished on- site accommodation, and the chance to build a rewarding career in regional hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Manager 1 – Front Office, Guest Services & Revenue Management
- Manage guest check-in and check-out processes
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest enquiries, requests, and complaints
- Monitor guest satisfaction and implement continuous service improvements
- Handle online reviews and maintain the property's reputation across booking platforms
- Manage OTA (Booking.com, Expedia, etc.) availability, pricing, and yield management
- Maximise occupancy through effective revenue management strategies
- Develop relationships with tour operators, corporate clients, and local businesses
- Assist with local marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns
- Identify opportunities to increase direct bookings
- Monitor daily revenue, occupancy, ADR (Average Daily Rate), and RevPAR performance
- Manage cash handling, banking, and daily reconciliations
- Prepare operational and financial reports for ownership
Manager 2 – Operations, Housekeeping & Maintenance
- Oversee daily operations of housekeeping, maintenance, and grounds
- Ensure all guest rooms and public areas meet cleanliness and presentation standards
- Coordinate room allocations to maximise occupancy and operational efficiency
- Recruit, train,
and supervise housekeeping and maintenance staff
- Prepare staff rosters to meet occupancy requirements while controlling labour costs
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and support
- Monitor stock levels and order operational supplies as required
- Conduct regular property inspections
- Coordinate preventative maintenance programs
- Liaise with contractors for repairs and maintenance
- Ensure swimming pool, gardens, and resort facilities are maintained to a high standard
Shared Responsibilities (Both Managers)
- Deliver exceptional customer service and create a welcoming environment for all guests
- Maintain compliance with company policies, health and safety regulations, and tourism industry standards
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Australian workplace, health and safety legislation
- Maintain fire safety and emergency procedures
- Ensure accurate record keeping and reporting
- Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented workplace culture
- Work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays
- Respond to operational issues outside normal business hours when necessary
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous motel, hotel, caravan park, resort, or hospitality management experience
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities
- Experience using property management systems (PMS) and online booking platforms (Manager 1)
- Sound operational and facilities management skills (Manager 2)
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays
- Willingness to live and work in a regional coastal community
Desirable
- Experience managing regional or resort accommodation properties
- Revenue management or yield management experience
- Maintenance, groundskeeping, or facilities management experience
- Previous experience working as a management couple in hospitality
