Job Description
Placed.au is looking for a full time Dental Technician for our client in Darlinghurst, New South Wales. This role is responsible for supporting dental laboratory and clinical operations through the design and manufacture of dental prostheses, operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, inventory management, sterilisation, and staff training.
- Operate dental laboratory equipment and ensure equipment is maintained and serviced as required.
- Design and manufacture dental prostheses using traditional techniques and CAD/CAM technology.
- Design and manufacture study models and working models for clinical and laboratory use.
- Complete finishing work, including staining and glazing of practitioner-designed dental restorations.
- Liaise with external laboratories and suppliers regarding external design and laboratory work.
- Manage laboratory clinical equipment and materials, including intraoral scanners, scan bodies, impression materials, and reline materials.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels of laboratory and clinical consumables and ensure areas are adequately restocked.
- Sterilise instruments and prepare clinical and laboratory areas for procedures in accordance with relevant infection control requirements.
- Open and close clinical and laboratory areas and ensure they are appropriately prepared for daily operations.
- Train staff in clinical procedures, cross-infection control, laboratory procedures, and relevant workplace processes.
- Assist with the training and onboarding of new clinical staff to ensure they understand laboratory and clinical procedures.
- Prepare staff rosters in consultation with the Practice Manager to support effective clinical and laboratory operations.
- Assist the Principal Dentist and Practice Manager with administrative tasks and other duties as required.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Principal Dentists and/or Practice Manager.
Qualifications / Attributes
- Must hold a relevant Diploma in Dental Technology or equivalent qualification.
- Must possess at least three (3) years of relevant work experience as a Dental Technician.
- Demonstrated experience in the design and manufacture of dental prostheses.
- Experience using CAD/CAM technology and dental laboratory equipment.
- Knowledge of dental laboratory materials, equipment, finishing techniques, and clinical laboratory procedures.
- Strong understanding of sterilisation, infection control, and cross-infection procedures.
- Ability to manage laboratory and clinical inventories and maintain appropriate stock levels.
- Ability to train and support staff in laboratory and clinical procedures.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with dentists, clinical staff, laboratories, and suppliers.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality dental work.
- Ability to work independently while following the direction of the Practice Manager and Principal Dentist.
Salary Range $75,000 - $95,000 per annum excluding superannuation.
