This position qualifies for an annual Recruitment Incentive Package up to the value of $10,000 (conditions apply and may be pro-rata’d to your contracted or ordinary working hours, these payments are paid on a fortnightly basis) under the NSW Health Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme.
This scheme recognises the role key health workers play in enabling the delivery of rural and remote health services, and aims to provide incentives over and above award entitlements, to attract and retain staff in these areas.

What You'll Be Doing Provide high quality, evidence based care in an advanced and extended advanced nursing level to achieve quality care outcomes for patients and clients.
- Advocate for, participate in, or lead systems that support safe care, partnership and professional growth through translating and integrating evidence into planning care, education and support of colleagues
- Conduct comprehensive, relevant and holistic health assessments and apply diagnostic reasoning to formulate diagnoses
- Respond effectively to emergency situations and the changing status of the patient
- Participate in relevant patient safety and quality education and deliver services in accordance with the National Patient Safety and Quality Standards

About Wilcannia
Wilcannia is a small, primarily Aboriginal community in far west NSW situated on the banks of the Darling River. In the heart of the Aussie Outback, life in Wilcannia is quiet, clean and beautiful.
The Wilcannia
Multi-Purpose Service (MPS) has a 24-hour 2 bed emergency department and 8 residential aged care beds. Wilcannia MPS has been providing care to the local community for over 140 years. As we work in partnership with the RFDS and Maari Ma the position provides opportunity to learn how to work with other healthcare organisations.
How To Apply To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria in the application as thoroughly as possible:
- Current endorsement by Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) as a Nurse Practitioner with extensive post registration experience or willingness to enrol in postgraduate studies leading to endorsement as Nurse Practitioner. Please provide current AHPRA Registration Number
- Extensive advanced practice experience and/or tertiary or post qualifications in rural and remote care including experience in Chronic & Complex Care management and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families
- Demonstrated advanced skills in assessment, treatment and management of all aspects of rural and remote care inclusive of Chronic & Complex Care management
- Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills to effectively engage and collaborate with managers and members of the multidisciplinary team and key stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to consult and refer patients appropriately across acute inpatient, outpatient and community settings
- Demonstrated ability to work as an autonomous practitioner
- Demonstrated ability to influence positive organisational change in particular concerning quality, safety, evidence based practice and innovation
- Unrestricted NSW Health Driver’s License
