We are recruiting multiple Privacy Officers at the APS5 equivalent level to support a Commonwealth Government privacy function for an initial 6-month term.
These are non-legal roles suited to experienced privacy professionals who enjoy working in an in-house government environment, advising on privacy compliance, managing privacy incidents, and supporting best practice information handling across a large organisation.
This role is open to candidates located in Canberra or Brisbane, with flexible arrangements considered on a case-by-case basis.
Please note: only Australian citizens with the ability to obtain/maintain a security clearance can be considered for these roles.
Duties:
- Analyse information and provide advice and recommendations to support decision-making
- Prepare high-quality written outputs, including correspondence, briefings and reports
- Provide privacy and information governance advice to internal stakeholders
- Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships
- Support and monitor compliance with privacy legislation, policies and procedures
- Contribute to process improvements and promote best practice in information handling
- Maintain accurate records in line with information management and security requirements
- Support senior staff in decision-making within legislative and delegated frameworks
- Mentor staff and contribute to team capability uplift
- Manage own workload and contribute to team priorities
Requisite skills and experience:
- Experience in privacy, information governance, compliance or a similar regulatory role
- Working knowledge of privacy legislation, secrecy provisions and information handling requirements
- Strong written communication skills, including drafting reports and briefings
- Ability to apply judgment, analyse information and provide practical advice
- Solid stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
- Well-organised, with high attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities
