The Firm

This is a 5-Partner accounting practice with more than 40 staff, across Accounting, Outsourced Financial Controller and CFO Advisory services. The firm is modern, progressive and genuinely focused on providing strategic advice rather than simply preparing the numbers.

The Role

As an Outsourced Financial Controller,



you will take ownership of the financial and management accounting function for a portfolio of clients. You'll work independently and directly with business owners and key stakeholders, providing high-quality financial information and helping clients understand what their numbers are telling them.

A dedicated offshore team of six handles the majority of the transactional processing and data entry, allowing you to focus on the higher-value areas of accounting.

Your responsibilities will include

- Managing financial and management accounting functions for clients
- Reviewing and analysing financial information
- Preparing monthly management reports and financial reporting packs
- Conducting month-end processes and reconciliations
- Reviewing the work completed by the offshore processing team
- Identifying financial trends, issues and opportunities
- Working closely with clients to understand their business and financial goals
- Providing meaningful financial insights and commercial support
- Assisting clients with budgeting, forecasting and cash-flow management
- Building trusted and long-term client relationships
- Working closely with the Partners and broader advisory team
- Supporting clients as a trusted financial partner rather than simply preparing their accounts

Skills & Experience

We're looking for someone who is commercially minded, motivated and ready to take ownership of their work.

You will ideally have

- Previous experience as a Bookkeeper, Management Accountant, Tax Accountant or similar
- Experience working within a public practice accounting environment
- Strong experience with Xero
- A solid understanding of accounting processes and financial reporting
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills
- The ability to interpret financial information and identify issues or opportunities
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills
- Confidence working directly with business owners and senior stakeholders
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently
- A proactive, driven and solutions-focused approach
- A genuine interest in developing your commercial and advisory capabilities

You don't need to have already worked as a Financial Controller. If you have a strong accounting or bookkeeping foundation, commercial curiosity and the drive to step up, you'll be supported with the training and mentoring required to succeed.
