Salary Level: 2/3 - $79,604 to $96,043 per annum + 12% superannuation

Employment Type: Full-time Sessional 10-month contract, with the possibility of extension The Legislative Council of Western Australia is seeking a motivated and efficient administrator with an interest in the parliamentary process. We are looking for a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service focus to join the Legislative Council Chamber Support Office on a full-time basis. This will include work outside of normal office hours while Parliament is in session.

Background The Department of the Legislative Council provides support to the Legislative Council, its committees and its 37 elected members.

Officers are central to the efficient and effective operation of the Legislative Council.

Parliamentary

Officers deliver support to the Chamber, Members and senior Parliamentary Officers by providing information, maintaining records and undertaking research. Specific duties within the Chamber Support Office are shared on a rotational basis, exposing Parliamentary Officers to a variety of important administrative functions.

What you'll do as Parliamentary Officer (Chamber Support)

As a Parliamentary Officer, you will see Western Australia’s Parliament up close. You will undertake administrative and procedural duties, including working on the floor of the Legislative Council Chamber. You will assist Parliamentarians and the public with requests for information, documents and project work as required.

Our ideal candidate will be highly organised, with a strong attention to detail, excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and a genuine enjoyment of working as part of a small team.



Work outside of normal hours will be required, including evenings when Parliament is sitting. It is expected that you will work 6.5 hours per day in non-sitting weeks, and during sitting weeks work until the Legislative Council rises (but a minimum of 8.5 hours).

This may involve late nights, and finishing times may vary based on the business before the Council.

In return, you will be offered daily exposure to the Parliament as a unique and interesting workplace. You will also receive overtime pay for any time worked in excess of 8.5 hours on sitting days. The 2026 Sitting Calendar can be found on the parliament careers webpage.

Reporting and Location The position reports to the Deputy Usher of the Black Rod in the Legislative Council and is based in Legislative Council wing of the historic Parliamentary buildings in West Perth.
