FARMVEST is seeking an experienced and reliable Spray Operator to join our avocado farming operation in the Mareeba region on a casual basis.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with agricultural spraying and machinery experience who takes pride in working safely, accurately and efficiently.
About the Role
As a Spray Operator, you will be responsible for carrying out crop protection applications and assisting with the operation and maintenance of farm machinery.
Key responsibilities include:
Spray operations: Carry out chemical applications safely, accurately and efficiently in accordance with label directions and farm requirements.
Chemical handling: Safely mix, load and handle agricultural chemicals and crop protection products.
Calibration: An understanding of spray calibration and application equipment to ensure accurate application rates and coverage.
Machinery operation: Operate tractors and other agricultural machinery.
Equipment maintenance: Conduct routine checks, cleaning and basic maintenance of spray equipment and machinery.
Crop monitoring: Report crop health, pest, disease or equipment issues to farm management.
Record keeping: Maintain accurate chemical application and spray records.
Safety and compliance: Follow all WHS, chemical handling and environmental requirements.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone with:
- Previous experience operating agricultural spray equipment.
- Positive knowledge of chemical handling and safe application practices.
- Experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery.
- An understanding of spray calibration and application rates.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Chemical accreditation/ChemCert would be highly regarded.
