Kin Early Education is seeking a Trainee Assistant Educator to join our team in Healesville, VIC. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to begin your career in early childhood education and care. In this role, you will support our experienced educators in delivering high-quality care and educational experiences to children, whilst developing your own skills and knowledge in the childcare and outside school hours care sector. You will work under the guidance of our qualified team, gaining practical experience and contributing to the wellbeing and development of the children in our care.
What you'll be doing
Supporting qualified educators in planning, implementing and evaluating age-appropriate activities and educational experiences for children
Assisting with the daily care routines including meals, hygiene, rest time and transitions between activities
Building positive relationships with children and families, fostering a welcoming and inclusive setting
Helping to maintain a safe, clean and organised learning environment that meets health and safety standards
Observing and documenting children's learning and development to support educators' assessments
Participating in team meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and practice
Supporting the implementation of the service's policies and procedures, including duty of care and child protection requirements
Assisting with special projects, excursions and community engagement activities
What we're looking for
A genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to their safety, wellbeing and development
Current or pending enrolment in an early childhood education qualification (such as Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent)
Working With Children Check (WWCC)
or ability to obtain one prior to commencement
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team
Reliability, punctuality and a professional approach to your role
Physical ability to lift, carry and supervise children safely
A current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one upon commencement
Understanding of and commitment to child protection principles and mandatory reporting obligations
Ability to follow instructions and implement feedback from senior educators
Previous experience or volunteer work with children is desirable but not essential for enthusiastic candidates
