In this role, you will support all aspects of navigation/imaging/robotics including instruments and equipment coordination, as well as patient care and positioning during procedures ensuring patient centred care is delivered in all interactions with our patients.

The Position

n

n
- Ensures associated instruments/equipment required is available including SKG Intelliviewer, navigation equipment, specialty operating tables, positioning equipment, drills and corresponding consoles, microscopes and CUZA for scheduled/emergency procedures ensuring, where possible, surgeon preferences.
n
- Acts as team champion for all navigation/imaging/robotic systems to problem solve any issues, to support and promote features of the system for surgeons and team members.

- Ensures correct positioning of patients and manipulation of operating tables as required.
n
- At the end of the procedure and in collaboration with nursing caregivers ensures instrument trays are complete and correct before returning them to SSD.
n
- Ensures a transparent and concise standard of documentation, i.e. assisting in HTRAK scanning and completion of prosthetic charging sheets.
n
- Assists with the transfer, transport and care of patients and equipment as directed by the Nursing caregivers, in accordance with safe practice guidelines.

- Assists, as required, with navigation expertise in ENT and orthopaedic specialties where applicable.

- Ensures the maintenance of surgical equipment and supplies, including co‐ordination of ordering, delivery and receipt of consignment stock, prosthesis and both owned and loan instrumentation.

- Ensures the maintenance of associated operating tables and attachments and any other positioning equipment used in the specialities and escalates issues directly to supervisor where a risk is identified.

- Liaises with surgeons, Perioperative Flow Manager and nursing caregivers to ensure instruments and prostheses required for scheduled operations are: available from suppliers; checked in detail before and after use; ordered and replaced; safely returned to supplier if required; and recorded re usage and stock levels.

- Educates and assists SSD supervisor with the preparation of specialised instrument sets.

Previous experience in either an orthopaedic or neurosurgery technician role is required and you should demonstrate strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem‐solving skills.

n

Qualification as an Enrolled Nurse, Anaesthetic Technician or CSSD Sterilisation Technician will be highly regarded. To succeed you will have a commitment to professional development including capacity to learn and champion innovations in surgical navigation and imaging.
