About Shameless Media
Shameless Media is one of Australia’s leading media brands. Our shows, including Shameless, Everybody Has A Secret, Style-ish and Inherited, are known for their fresh, funny, and thoughtful takes on the topics that matter to women.
To continue the growth of our flagship show, we are looking for a passionate and experienced Podcast Producer to join our team.
About the role The off-air Shameless Podcast Producer is responsible for helping bring Shameless to life each week - from shaping episode content and writing runsheets through to editing and delivering polished full-length video episodes.
This is a hands-on creative production role for someone with solid editorial instincts, excellent attention to detail and a great feel for what makes compelling podcast content.
The Podcast Producer will lead/support the preparation for episode runsheets and edit two-to-three full-length video podcast episodes each week.
Working closely with the Head of Department, Shameless producers, and co-hosts, they will help ensure that every Shameless episode is thoughtful, engaging, well-structured, and produced to a consistently high standard.
Role details
- Job title: Podcast Producer
- Reporting to: Head of Podcasts
- Location: Cremorne, Melbourne
- Type: Full-time
- WFH split: 4 days in-office, 1 day at home
- Experience: three to five years of employment in audio (podcasting and radio), with audio editing experience
- Preferred commencement: October, 2026
Key responsibilities
Runsheet preparation:
- Own the development and writing of the Thursday and Friday Shameless episode runsheets.
- Ensure runsheets are thoroughly researched,
factually accurate and aligned with the Shameless tone and audience.
- Structure runsheets in a way that enables natural, engaging conversations between the hosts.
- Assist with Monday episode runsheets and research where required.
- Work collaboratively with hosts and the broader team to respond to feedback and refine episode content ahead of recording.
Episode video production:
- Edit approximately two to three full-length video podcast episodes per week, delivering polished final episodes to the required production standard.
- Edit with both the audience and the content in mind — considering pacing, structure, entertainment value and clarity, rather than simply executing a technical edit.
- Ensure episodes meet Shameless's standards for audio and video quality.
- Incorporate feedback from the Head of Podcast Production and other relevant stakeholders efficiently and accurately.
- Ensure all episodes are completed according to the podcast's production and publishing schedule.
Contributing to the editorial direction of the show:
- Develop a strong understanding of the Shameless audience and what makes an episode resonate with them.
- Bring ideas for stories and segments to the podcast team.
- Stay across pop culture, entertainment, internet culture and the conversations our audience is having.
- Apply editorial judgement throughout the entire production process, from deciding how a story should be approached in a runsheet to determining what should stay or go in the final edit.
- Understand and protect the Shameless voice, ensuring the podcast remains thoughtful, entertaining, curious and distinctly Shameless.
What we’re looking for:
- 3 + years experience in podcast production.
- Excellent writing, research and editorial skills (ideally a background in journalism or similar field).
- Strong video editing skills not necessary but highly favoured.
- A strong understanding of what makes compelling podcast content and an instinct for pacing, structure and storytelling.
- A genuine interest in pop culture, entertainment, internet culture and the kinds of conversations at the heart of Shameless.
- Robust attention to detail, particularly when it comes to research, fact-checking and final edits.
- The ability to manage multiple weekly deadlines and work effectively within a fast-moving production schedule.
- Confidence in receiving and implementing editorial feedback.
- Initiative and good judgement — someone who can identify a problem, think through a solution and know when to escalate it.
- An understanding of the Shameless brand, voice and audience.
