Description Amazon is seeking a detail-oriented analyst to join the Tax Engine Operations team in Bratislava, as part of the Global Tax Engine team. Our organization powers tax calculation services for Amazon and thousands of marketplace merchants across multiple e-commerce platforms worldwide.

We bring together tax professionals and software engineers to deliver accurate consumption tax calculations - from sales and use taxes to VAT and GST - ensuring every customer transaction is taxed correctly.

Role Overview

This Position Focuses On Two Main Areas Of Responsibility Product Classification for Tax You will conduct tax research and analysis across various product categories and jurisdictions to ensure accurate tax treatment. This includes supporting the maintenance of tax content and classification processes, working with data sources across multiple languages, and expanding data retrieval and analysis techniques to improve classification accuracy.

Tax Engine Operations and Initiatives You will support broader operational activities to ensure the tax calculation platform complies with local and global indirect tax laws. This includes participating in projects with tax compliance impact, supporting internal and external audits, contributing to process improvements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will work closely with local business partners and tax department colleagues across multiple marketplaces.

The purpose of both areas is to deliver excellence to customers by ensuring their purchases are taxed correctly and compliantly.

Key job responsibilities





- Support tax operations activities across multiple languages and utilize various data sources to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Conduct tax research and analysis across a wide range of categories and jurisdictions
- Support the maintenance of tax content and operational processes
- Participate in ongoing audit activities and support internal and external audits
- Expand and refine data retrieval and analysis techniques for improved accuracy
- Participate in team operational excellence programs and process improvements
- Maintain metrics and reporting for measuring process improvement
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide support for their specific needs
- Maintain effective cross-team cooperation and communication with direct manager and team leads, providing updates and feedback to support team efficiency

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree
- Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, decisive, and self-motivated
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing, or experience in developing and deploying LLMs in production on GPUs, Neuron,



TPU or other AI acceleration hardware
- Experience in the public sector
- Experience with technology platform sales with an understanding of government IT, data centers, cloud services and cloud adoption
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, machine learning, engineering, or related fields, or Bachelor's degree
- Understanding of Australian Government security and compliance frameworks (e.g. ISM, PSPF, IRAP) and data sovereignty requirements
- Familiarity with responsible AI governance frameworks relevant to public sector (e.g. Australian Government AI Ethics Principles)
- Experience engaging senior government executives (SES-band and above) and translating technology outcomes into policy and citizen-impact language
- Experience in Services Delivery of critical infrastructure, ERP, Outsourcing, AI implementation
