Principal Mining Engineer – Brisbane Head Office

This unique mining operation has engaged Pivot to find a Principal Mining Engineer to join the Brisbane head office team in a corporate, Monday-to-Friday capacity. Working alongside the leadership team you will support the business across mine planning and work with the team to deliver results.
About the Role
This is a technical, office-based role at the heart of the business's growth trajectory. You will take ownership of the life of mine plan, working closely with site and executive stakeholders to ensure planning outputs support the operation through its ramp-up phase. You will be hands-on with the team ensuring planning, scheduling and modelling activities are happening across their mine software such as Spry, Deswick, and Vulcan, and will provide technical inputs into reserve reporting.
This is a genuine prospect to shape the technical planning backbone of a growing, unique operation from a corporate seat, with flexibility to fit around the pace and shape of the project as it scales.
About You
You bring at least 4–5 years of site-based mining engineering experience,
ideally with some exposure to consulting — a background that gives you both the technical grounding of hands-on site work and the broader perspective of having worked across different operations or clients. You are confident and capable with systems such as Spry, Deswick, and Vulcan, and you're comfortable operating in a corporate environment, translating site realities into planning and reporting outputs the business can act on. You're motivated by the chance to be part of a business in genuine growth mode, backed by a strong, established senior leadership team.
Key Requirements
- Relevant degree qualification in Mining Engineering or similar
- Circa 4–5 years coal mining engineering experience, primarily site-based
- Consulting exposure highly regarded
- Proficiency with Spry (scheduling), Deswick, and Vulcan
- Life of mine planning experience and short, medium and long term exposure
- Exposure to or capability in reserve reporting inputs
- Strong communication skills to bridge site and corporate stakeholders
