We are accelerating the energy transition in transport — partnering with public and private clients to plan, design and deliver low‑ and zero‑emission mobility at scale. Our Principal – Transport Decarbonisation will lead high‑impact engagements across policy, strategy, planning and delivery to decarbonise how people and goods move. How you’ll make a difference
- Build and deepen senior relationships across government, transport owners/operators, utilities, and industry partners to shape decarbonisation agendas and programs.
- Shape nation‑building decarbonisation programs by leading engagements across the full lifecycle: policy and strategy, feasibility and options, masterplans and business cases, project development, design delivery support, commissioning and operations.
- Develop robust strategies and transition plans; lead technical research and analysis; structure funding/financing and total‑cost‑of‑ownership cases; and produce high‑quality technical and non‑technical reports, dashboards and board‑level materials.
- Apply domain expertise across zero‑emission buses, freight and fleets; extend into multimodal applications (rail,
ports, airports) and emerging fuels (battery‑electric, hydrogen, biofuels/SAF) as appropriate.
- Coordinate with utilities/DSOs and renewable/energy storage providers to secure capacity, manage demand and resilience, and integrate enabling infrastructure and microgrids.
- Embed safety‑by‑design and assurance (e.g., battery/fire life‑safety, emergency response considerations) and manage risk across scope, schedule and budget.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams and partners, fostering performance, collaboration and knowledge sharing across planning, engineering, and digital disciplines.
- Drive pursuits and go‑to‑market initiatives; contribute thought leadership, insights and industry engagement to grow our market presence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, transport planning, energy systems, sustainability, economics or related discipline; postgraduate qualifications and/or CPEng/RPEQ, PMP/PRINCE2 are advantageous.
- Experience delivering transport decarbonisation, planning and/or engineering programs with a strong focus on electrification/net zero, across policy, planning and implementation.
- Proven track record leading complex projects and programs, including commercial stewardship, risk management, and performance governance.
- Strong knowledge of Australian transport and energy sectors, regulatory and funding frameworks, and delivery/operating models; experience engaging with utilities and regulators.
- Technical capability in ZEB/fleet transitions and broader transport planning/engineering; exposure to hydrogen/alternative fuels and charging/refuelling infrastructure desirable.
- Proficiency with data‑driven analysis and digital reporting (e.g., demand/energy modelling, dashboards), translating insights for executive and non‑technical audiences.
- Outstanding stakeholder skills and the ability to lead and develop high‑performing, multidisciplinary teams.
