The Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Nurse to join our Urgent Care team in a leadership capacity as an Urgent Care Team Leader.

In this role, you will provide frontline clinical care while supporting the daily operational and clinical leadership of the Urgent Care nursing team. You will ensure all patients presenting to Urgent Care are appropriately assessed, triaged promptly, and provided with safe, high-quality patient-centred care in collaboration with the Urgent Care Medical Practitioner.

Working closely with the Practice Nurse Manager and Practice Manager, you will play a key role in supporting clinical excellence, mentoring team members, maintaining patient flow, and contributing to the continued growth and success of our Urgent Care services.

Your Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Triage

- Lead and support frontline triage operations within the Urgent Care service.
- Ensure all patients are appropriately assessed, triaged, and prioritised according to clinical presentation.
- Escalate high-acuity or deteriorating patients promptly to the Medical Practitioner.
- Provide timely and accurate clinical handovers.
- Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care within scope of practice and organisational policies.
- Perform clinical procedures including:
- Wound care and dressings
- Plastering and splinting
- Cannulation and IV administration
- Suturing and suture removal (where applicable)
- Phlebotomy (where applicable)
- Urinary catheter management
- Assist Medical Practitioners during procedures and patient interventions.
- Provide patient education, discharge planning, and follow-up support.
- Support onboarding, training, and mentoring of Urgent Care nursing staff.
- Assist with rostering and day-to-day team coordination in collaboration with the Practice Nurse Manager.
- Promote compliance with clinical policies, procedures, and standing operating protocols.
- Foster a collaborative, professional, and patient-focused team culture.

Clinical Administration

- Ensure accurate, timely, and legally compliant clinical documentation.
- Monitor clinical stock levels and support ordering processes.
- Ensure vaccines, medications, and equipment are appropriately maintained and stored.
- Escalate equipment faults and operational concerns promptly.

Workplace Health & Safety





- Maintain compliance with workplace health and safety standards and reporting requirements.
- Identify and elevate hazards, incidents, and risks appropriately.
- Promote a safe environment for patients, visitors, and team members.

About You

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Minimum 5 years post-graduate nursing experience
- Minimum 1 year Emergency Department experience within the last 5 years
- Demonstrated experience in emergency triage
- Previous experience in primary care or Urgent Care settings highly regarded
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to recognise and escalation patient deterioration appropriately
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Passion for patient-centred care and clinical leadership
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as required

You will also be required to provide:

- Working With Children Check
- National Police Check
- International Police Check where relevant
