Design Manager (Estimating, Detailing and BOM)

n

Perform comprehensive quantity take-offs and project estimations.

n

Allocate take-off tasks to junior team members as workload demands.

n

Review and verify all take-offs prepared by junior staff to ensure accuracy and completeness.

n

Identify and resolve discrepancies between project documentation and estimates.

n

Prepare proposal and approval drawings using AutoCAD for awarded projects.

n

Personally develop detailed 3D models and fabrication drawings using Tekla Structures for structural and non-structural components.

n

Verify all drawings, models, and outputs against project quotations, engineering requirements, and contract documentation.

n

Generate and review accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for procurement and loading.

n

Draft, issue, and manage Requests for Information (RFIs) to resolve design clarifications with clients, builders, consultants, and engineers.

n

Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior detailers to maintain drafting standards and accuracy.

n

3. Documentation & Quality Control

n

Maintain accurate revision registers and project records.

n

Conduct quality checks on drawings, models, BOMs, and project documentation.

n

Ensure all deliverables comply with company standards,



industry requirements, and project specifications.

n

Lead and manage the Drafting team, supervise, mentor, and develop junior drafters.

n

Review and approve all estimating, drafting, and detailing outputs before release.

n

Establish and maintain drafting, modelling, and estimation standards and procedures.

n

Coordinate resources, departments and priorities across multiple projects.

n

Requirements & Qualifications

n

Proven experience in structural steel detailing, drafting, and estimating.

n

Demonstrated leadership experience managing drafting or detailing teams.

n

Strong understanding of steel structures, fabrication, and construction processes.

n

Extensive experience managing RFIs, drawing revisions, and project documentation.

n

AutoCAD

n

Solid working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications.

n

Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

n

A hands-on attitude with the ability to personally undertake high-volume drafting, modelling, and estimating work when required.

n

Advantageous

n

Knowledge of structural design principles and engineering concepts.

n

Experience with process automation and software development.
