Working within our Financial Wellbeing team, you'll support individuals and families experiencing financial hardship to access safe and affordable financial solutions through the No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS). From guiding clients through their loan application to helping them better understand their financial options, you'll provide practical, compassionate support that helps people navigate financial hardship with greater confidence and choice. Your opportunity
As a Caseworker, you'll provide end-to-end support to clients accessing the No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS), helping eligible individuals and households on low incomes access secure and affordable loans. You'll combine client casework, financial capability education, administration and community engagement to ensure people receive a seamless, respectful and person-centred experience. With integrity and resilience, you will:
- Guide clients through the complete NILS application process, from initial enquiry through to application and outcome.
- Conduct eligibility assessments with clients over the phone and in person.
- Assist clients to complete loan applications and gather the required supporting documentation.
- Liaise with loan providers and Valuable Shepherd Microfinance throughout the application process.
- Provide individualised support to clients experiencing financial hardship, identifying their needs and connecting them with appropriate services where required.
- Maintain accurate, timely and accessible client information within Anglicare's CRM systems.
- Provide compassionate and respectful support that promotes client dignity, choice and independence.
- Promote the NILS program within the local community to increase awareness and access.
- Build positive relationships with referral agencies, community organisations, government services and other local stakeholders.
- Build positive and collaborative relationships with the entire NILS team and wider Financial Wellbeing team.
- Attend community forums, networking meetings and promotional activities.
- Maintain appropriate client documentation and statistical information in accordance with organisational, legislative and funding requirements.
- Deliver financial capability education and activities that increase community understanding of financial hardship and available support.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and the ongoing effectiveness of Anglicare's Financial Wellbeing services.
- Provide support and referrals for People accessing Anglicare Services.
What you’ll bring
You're a compassionate and motivated caseworker who enjoys supporting people to navigate challenges and achieve practical outcomes. You combine strong organisation and attention to detail with the ability to build trusting relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. You'll understand that financial hardship can affect every aspect of a person's life and approach each client with empathy, dignity and without judgement. You'll be proactive, adaptable and comfortable balancing client appointments, casework, administration and community engagement. Most importantly, you'll share Anglicare's values of Integrity, Justice, Compassion and Excellence.
You will also need
- Previous experience in casework, community services, financial wellbeing, microfinance or a related environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with people experiencing financial hardship.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to prioritise multiple competing demands.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate client records and documentation.
- Confidence conducting client assessments and gathering sensitive financial information.
- Ability to build effective relationships with community organisations and referral partners.
- Genuine compassion for people experiencing financial hardship and an understanding of its impact on individuals and families.
- A driven, hardworking, flexible and proactive approach to work.
Ideally, you will also have
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Community Services, Welfare, Commerce, Business or a related discipline.
- Previous NILS or microfinance experience within a community setting.
- Experience working with people experiencing financial vulnerability or disadvantage.
- Experience using CRM or client management systems.
- Experience delivering financial capability education or community-based programs.
- Knowledge of community services and referral pathways.
