Geospatial Data Specialists - Multiple Opportunities

Work arrangement: Hybrid

Contract: Initial 12 months with extension options

Hours: Up to 40 hours per week

Clearance: Must be able to obtain a Baseline security clearance

The opportunity We are seeking multiple Geospatial Data Specialists to support the development, integration and ongoing management of high-quality spatial data and geospatial solutions.

These roles suit professionals with experience in geospatial data engineering, spatial databases, data pipelines, mapping services and spatial analytics. You will work closely with technical teams and business stakeholders to improve the accessibility, reliability and value of spatial information.

Key responsibilities

- Design, develop and maintain geospatial data pipelines, spatial databases and integration solutions.
- Acquire, transform, validate and manage spatial datasets.
- Maintain high standards of data quality, integrity, security and accessibility.
- Develop and support geospatial applications, mapping services and spatial analytics solutions.
- Gather and analyse business requirements and translate them into practical geospatial solutions.
- Apply data governance, information management, privacy and security principles across geospatial platforms and datasets.
- Monitor and optimise geospatial systems to support reliable service delivery.
- Provide advice on geospatial technologies, standards and industry best practices.
- Prepare technical documentation, procedures and supporting artefacts.
- Contribute to planning, delivery and continuous improvement activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve the usability and value of spatial information assets.

The opportunity We are seeking multiple Geospatial Data Specialists to support the development, integration and ongoing management of high-quality spatial data and geospatial solutions.

About you To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Experience designing, developing and maintaining geospatial data pipelines, spatial databases and data integration solutions.
- Strong capability in acquiring, transforming, validating and managing spatial datasets.
- A sound understanding of spatial data quality, integrity and accessibility requirements.
- Experience developing or supporting geospatial applications, mapping services and spatial analytics solutions using contemporary technologies and platforms.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and business analysis skills.
- The ability to translate business needs into practical, fit-for-purpose geospatial data and information solutions.
- Knowledge of data governance, information management, security, privacy and data quality principles.
- Transparent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare high-quality technical documentation.

Experience gained within government, regulatory, environmental, scientific or natural resource management environments will be highly regarded.

Working arrangements The positions are based in Canberra and offer hybrid working arrangements. Canberra-based candidates may be required to attend the office up to three days per week or as operationally required.

Candidates based outside the ACT may be able to work from an appropriate office or regional hub, with occasional travel to Canberra. Individual working arrangements will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.

Eligibility Applicants must have Australian working rights and be able to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance.
