Primary objective
Provide high level administrative and secretarial support within a legal office workplace to the Crown Prosecutors within the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high level administrative and secretarial support within a legal office environment to the Crown Prosecutors
within the DPP.
- Provide quality paralegal support to the DPP Crown Prosecutors in relation to the preparation of criminal matters.
- Prepare legal documentation including briefs of evidence for defendants and their counsel.
- Liaise with Local Courts, the Supreme Court, witnesses, police and other external stakeholders; respond to telephone enquiries and maintain file and document management systems.
- Manage a range of concurrent activities in a timely and efficient manner, with minimal supervision, ensuring that deadlines are adhered to.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven ability to provide high level administrative and secretarial support.
2. Sound organisational skills and high level of self-management, including a proven ability to determine workload priorities,
work under pressure, use initiative and meet stringent deadlines without close supervision.
- Sound interpersonal skills together with good oral and written communication skills to be able to communicate effectively with the public, peers and other agency officers, displaying sensitivity and cultural awareness.
- Sound ability in the preparation of legal documents and other correspondence together with an understanding of policy and procedures as they relate to the Local Court and Supreme Court.
- Experience in document and file management, including a sound working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs and electronic databases.
- An ability to interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Experience in legal office.
2. An understanding of the role and function of the DPP.
