Reporting to the Director and working closely with them and department heads, you will take full ownership of financial accounting and reporting while playing an increasingly commercial role across the business.

Key responsibilities

Own the month-end close — journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and a clean, on-time reporting pack

Prepare monthly management reporting with commentary that explains variances rather than just presenting them

Manage compliance obligations including BAS, IAS, FBT, payroll tax and workcover, and act as the primary contact for external accountants and auditors

Prepare year-end statutory financial statements and manage the audit process through to sign-off

Maintain the fixed asset register, lease accounting and inventory valuation

Build and maintain the annual budget and rolling forecasts, working with department managers to build assumptions they believe in

Analyse margin, cost and working capital performance across sales, parts and service, and flag the trends worth acting on

Business partner with department heads — translating financial performance into plain language and practical recommendations

Support cash flow forecasting and stock funding requirements

Continuously improve processes, controls and reporting as the business scales

About you

CA or CPA qualified (or in the final stages of completion)

Degree qualified in accounting, commerce or finance

Solid post-qualification experience in a financial accounting role, ideally with exposure to a product, inventory or asset-heavy business

Strong technical grounding in Australian accounting standards and tax compliance

Advanced Excel skills and confidence working across ERP or accounting systems (Xero, MYOB Advanced, NetSuite or similar)

A commercial mindset — you are comfortable stepping out of the spreadsheet and into a conversation with an operational manager

Clear communicator who can hold their ground with senior stakeholders and explain finance to non-finance people

Hands-on, pragmatic and comfortable in a growing business where the finance function is still being built
